Yin Yoga to Open Your Hips

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

It is time to release pent up emotion by opening your hips.

Think of your hips as emotional storage lockers. Because we have so much cold tissue running all through our hips – like the fascia and ligaments – hip openers in Yin yoga are so beneficial to both our mind and body. I can’t think of any better way to release our hips and legs than a yin style practice such as this one.

In Yin yoga we hold each pose for a relatively long time. Anywhere from 1-8 minutes. Therefore, the Asanas allow for a very deep stretch and opening through our cold tissue.

Please make sure you have lots of props ready to go such as pillows, a blanket and a block or two. Don’t forget, because it is a Yin style practice you don’t want to pressure yourself to go to far. Try to find your sweet spot and allow yourself to melt into each shape.

Yoga to Open the Root Chakra

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

Have you been feeling a little out of sorts lately? Having trouble staying grounded? Feeling insecure? It could be a sign that your root chakra is out of balance.

We have 7 chakras running through our body.
The root chakra is the first. It’s located at the base of your spine and it’s red in color.

One of the best ways to strengthen our root chakra is to perform Asanas which root you to the earth or any poses which push the base of your spine to the sky.

The root chakra rules anything that has to do with our roots such as money, family our home or just general feeling of security.
Please let me know what you thought of this yoga routine and of course like, share and subscribe to my YouTube channel here.

Stay grounded.

Yoga Flow to Isolate the Core

Namaste yoginis and yoginis!!!

Let’s get to the core of it all!

In this yoga session we’ll be performing various Asanas to isolate the pelvic wall muscle, your transverse abdominis, your gluts and your spine.

I will be showing you different ways to strengthen your core. Listen to your body. Make sure nothing is painful or uncomfortable. Have some props at the ready such as a block, pillow, bolster, strap or any household substitutes.

Yin Yoga to Heal the Spine

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

It’s is time to heal the spine by going Yin deep.

I have mentioned that my favorite style of yoga is Yin in previous posts, I also believe that it is one of the best styles to heal your body because it’s focused more on your cold tissue such as the fascia and ligaments.

In this series we’ll be using Yin yoga to heal the spine from shoulder all the way to the base of your back. Be prepared for some gentle spinal twists and forward folds.

Remember in Yin we hold each pose for longer than usual so have lots of props by your side.

Restorative Yoga

Namaste yogis and yoginis!!!

I am proud to present my first restorative yoga video for you!

Restorative yoga is all about comfort, de-stressing and healing your mind and body. It often involves a lot of props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and pillows.

In a traditional restorative yoga class you hold each position for 5 minutes or more however, we’ll only be holding each position for 2 to 3 minutes since its our first restorative practice.

Let me know what you think! Share your thoughts bellow.

Ultimate Cat Yoga

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

Today I’m posting something a little fun for you.

I’m a total cat person. I love their attitude, their cuddliness, their independence and their affection for their people. I subscribe to a wonderful animator on YouTube who draws animated shorts which I think captures the essence of felines. The channel is called “Simon’s Cat” and today I saw a vid I think is purrrfect (sorry 😋)  to post on my blog.

It’s titled “Ultimate Cat Yoga”…enjoy!

Pranayama Power

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

Let’s talk about Pranayama. “PRAN” translates to “breath” and “AYAMA” means “to control” or “to withhold something”. Therefore, Pranayama basically means “breath control”.

In this video I show you 3 techniques used to de-stress, to clear your head, reduce anxiety and realize negative feelings.

  1. Nadi-Shodhan(Alternate Nostril Breathing) – This is a great technique to balance out your nervous system. Using your thumb and pinkie-finger, alternate breathing in-and-out through one nostril at a time while sealing off the other with your 2 fingers. We’ll be repeating this up to sixteen times.
  1. Ujjayi(Victorious) – Here your trying to create the sound of the ocean with your breath. Inhale through your nose and exhale slowly with your mouth open like you’re trying to fog up a mirror with your breath.
  1. Bhramari(Bee breath) – Press your index fingers to the Tragus (funny little bump or flap which is over your ear canal) so it covers your ear hole(canal). Close your eyes and hum like a bee while gently pressing and de-pressing the Tragus.

Please stop and breath normally if you start feeling faint or these techniques cause any discomfort.

Sorry for the darkness of the video. We started shooting in light but the sun went down very quickly so it created a little darker ambiance than we would have liked.

Let me know how these techniques made you feel. I really want to know what you think and of course feel free to make suggestions for upcoming videos.

Hatha Yoga Flow for the Entire Body

Namaste yogis and yoginis!

Be one with the flow and allow your body to go where it wants to go. Be prepared to work your entire body. We’ll be up and down and all around. In this video we’re breaking the rules and just freestyling it.

Even though this is a somewhat fast and intense yoga routine only do what you can and listen to your body. Don’t over extend yourself and take a break if your body needs to.

Let me know how you feel after in the comments below. I’m always interested to hear what you think and suggestions for upcoming videos. As always, like, subscribe, share and don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel as well right here.
